正在美國出差的Eric Wang與同事Michael 下班後來到了市區的爵士咖啡廳，一邊閒聊一邊享受音樂??
Eric: Michael, this outdoor jazz cafe is great…sipping on1 a drink, listening to jazz and just chilling out2. Good call.
Michael: Thanks, Eric. This reminds me of when I was at the New Orleans3 Jazz Fest4. On the last weekend of April, big-name5musicians perform at the horse racing track6 in the historic7part of the city.
Eric: New Orleans was the birthplace of jazz. It must be worthwhile to attend. You know, I enjoy some kinds of jazz, like smooth jazz8, but other kinds have complex harmonies that I just don’t get.
Michael: Yes, some jazz is an “acquired taste.” I guess that is why the famous jazz drummer9 Art Blakey once said, “It takes an intelligent ear to listen to jazz.”
Eric: I guess so, but I still really admire10 what jazz musicians do when they jam11…going on stage and just improvising12 with each other. Perhaps I should listen to more jazz.
Michael: Yes, it’s always good to jazz up your life with something new.

Michael: 謝啦，艾瑞克。這讓我想起了之前去的紐奧良爵士音樂節。每年四月的最後一個禮拜，許多大牌音樂家會在位於紐奧良歷史街區的賽馬場表演。
Eric: 紐奧良是爵士樂的發源地。肯定非常值得去一趟。你知道嗎，我滿喜歡某些類型的爵士樂，例如流行爵士，但有些其他種類的爵士曲調，我完全無法理解。
Michael: 是呀，有些爵士樂的確需要時間學習欣賞。我猜這就是為什麼著名的爵士鼓手亞特‧布雷基會說：「要聽懂爵士樂，得有聰明的耳朵。」
Eric: 我想也是，但我真的很欽佩那些爵士樂手們飆歌時的技巧??上台就開始即興演出、隨興搭配。或許我應該多聽點爵士樂。
Michael: 對呀，接觸點新東西、讓生活更活躍，一定是件好事。
