目前緊急情況的重心已向南移動，距離奧克蘭約220公里的懷托摩區（Waitomo District）昨晚宣布進入緊急狀態。
紐西蘭氣象局（MetService）警告，今明兩天北島天氣將更惡劣，包括奧克蘭；並說可能會出現嚴重的大雷雨。紐西蘭氣象局表示，密集的降雨也可能引發淹水及暴洪。

警方今天說，不遠的普蘭蒂灣地區（Bay of Plenty）同樣有著「大面積的洪患」，土石流摧毀一棟房屋並威脅著相鄰的幾棟地產。
奧克蘭機場（Auckland Airport）於27日關閉了國內與國際航班業務後，紐西蘭航空公司（Air New Zealand）今天表示，紐航將於今天正午（格林威治標準時間28日23時）恢復奧克蘭的起降作業。
上任不到一週的紐西蘭總理希金斯（Chris Hipkins）昨天搭乘直升機飛越奧克蘭上空，接著巡視災區，他形容這次洪患對奧克蘭的影響是最近記憶中「不曾聽聞的」。

這次的豪雨打破奧克蘭降雨紀錄，奧克蘭機場截至昨天上午9時的24小時累積雨量達249毫米，超越1985年創下的161.8毫米。
